About Taku Sando

Taku Sando is a sandwich shop located in Brooklyn, New York, offering sandwiches that modernize traditional Japanese flavors. The popular handcrafted sandwiches include pork katsu, chicken katsu, egg salad, and croquette sandwiches. The shop has gained significant attention, with numerous features in media outlets like The New York Times.

Now, Taku Sando is making its debut in Japan with a second location in Kyoto, bringing its New York-style Japanese craft sandwiches to a new market. By introducing this unique NY-style sandwich experience to Kyoto—a city rich in history and culture—the shop aims to bring a fresh, new twist to the local food scene.

Key features of Taku Sando include a generous filling-to-bread ratio of 8:2, offering substantial and satisfying sandwiches. The shop faithfully recreates authentic New York flavors with dill pickles and bagel paper, while also incorporating high-quality Japanese seasonings like shio-koji and red vinegar for added depth.

Additionally, Taku Sando uses fluffy, Kyoto-made bread and offers a curated selection of Japanese sake by a sake sommelier. The shop also features a casual standing-drink style, allowing customers to enjoy sandwiches with a drink during the day. Taku Sando blends New York’s charm with Japanese culinary culture to provide a distinctive sandwich experience and continues to share its unique appeal within Japan.
